Lina Medina of Peru is the world's youngest person to ever give birth. Dr. Gerardo Lozada delivered Lina's baby by cesarean section in 1939. When she delivered her child she was 5 years old. Her parents took her to the doctor because they believed she had a tumor. After the physician examined Lina he announced that she was actually 7 months pregnant.
As it turned out, Lina was diagnosed with precocious puberty. A condition where the reproductive organs develop too early, for Lina this was around the age of 2.5 years. When she was examined at the age of five her reproductive organs were fully developed.
Lina's baby weighed 2.7 kilograms and the family named the child Gerardo, after the physician who delivered him. Gerardo died at the age of 40 from bone marrow disease. Lina's son was told that Lina was his sister until he reached the age of 10.
Sadly, Lina was a victim of sexual abuse and her father was initially jailed for the crime. He was later released due to lack of solid evidence. Lina married a man named Raul Jurado and in 1972 she gave birth again. Lina is now 81 and she has still never revealed the name of her abuser or the father of her first child.
What do you think about this? I have to chirp in here and say I think it's pretty horrific! Comment below!
Nursing and sleep are usually not words you see in the same sentence. That's because nurses don't usually get any Zzzs. It's as elusive as a ghost in the night. It's well, bloody hard to find the time for such a luxury. Now, I'm all about snoozing and getting my rest; it's one of my favorite pastimes. But that's probably because I rarely get to lay my head on my warm, soft pillow, in my beautiful, cozy bed, wrapped up like a mummy.
My husband and I just returned from the cruise from hell aboard Royal Carribean. We love to cruise and have been to many wonderful places. This was cruise number thirteen for us, so perhaps that should have clued us in. We normally cruise on Carnival, and we love them. We've cruised twice on Norwegian, but we thought we'd try Royal Carribean because so many people said it was the best cruise line.
If you think we have some strange treatments to treat medical disorders and disease in today's world, rewind a couple of hundred years and check out the treatments and "remedies" they used back then.
These weird and crazy medical ads from the past are enough to make you fall off your chair. All of these are real medical ads from pharmaceutical companies and other medical companies. Scary to say the least. We've sure come a long way baby! and thank goodness we have.
This man was a friendly patron at his local bar in Chihuahua, Mexico. He was having a good time drinking with friends when another man began to verbally abuse him and threaten him.

Christmas time is upon us once again nurses, and I was scrolling through our Facebook page recently when I noticed that one post had been resurrected from the dead every single year. It was one with a Christmas tree made out of surgical gloves. Every year we receive thousands of enquiries into how these cute little boogers are made.
