"Why is it so hard to see black and blue?"

Domestic violence, Salvation army and domestic violence, violence against women

we've all seen the discussions on the internet about the dress.  Is it black & Blue" or "white a& gold?"  Well since it went viral South Africa's Salvation Army has devised an ad campaign to address domestic violence

The ad message is, "Why is it so hard to see black and blue?"

The public service announcement also states that "The only illusion is if you think it was her choice. One in 6 women are victims of abuse. Stop abuse against women."

Domestic violence is often swept under the rug, It's the elephant in the room. People know it's happening, but choose to ignore it. This ad could be exactly what we need to bring domestic violence to the forefront, so people can be more aware of the importance of speaking up.  If you or someone you know is a victim of domestic violence, don't be afraid to speak up. It's the only way to get help and bring the perpetrator to justice.  Call the department for health and family services in your area to get help. Call 911 in the U.S. if it's an emergency.

There was a recent story about a victim of domestic violence who called the police and ordered pizza to alert them about her attack.  You can read about it here.   You don't have to tolerate abuse. There is help out there.

Do you think this ad was a good idea?  Comment below!
