Police in Hillsborough County, Florida are searching for answers in the murder of a nurse in his home.
53-year-old William Leslie McGoff was found dead in his Tampa home when police were called in to do a welfare check because the man didn't show up for work on Monday. Coworkers knew it wasn't like him to miss work so they reported it to the police.
Investigators believe that the attacker knew the victim. The victim's car is missing. It's a 2013 black Hyundai Sonata and the Florida tag reads 113VFT
Those who knew nurse McGoff said he was well loved in the community and he will be sadly missed.
“He’s lived his life helping people as employment and he does the same on his personal and private time," neighbor Shawna Smith said. “I was very, very scared. Very scared. You don’t think this is going to happen to you or in your neighborhood."
His coworkers said this is a “Major loss and hope that his family and his close friends find some comfort knowing that he will be missed and he touched a lot of, a lot of lives."
His family said. “Thank you for recognizing Leslie's accomplishments and his good work in the community. He has touched many lives in his 30 years of nursing. He will be greatly missed."
