A planned parenthood facility in New Mexico has been accused of illegally allowing a nurse to prescribe chemical abortion drugs to patients.
A formal complaint was filed this week with the board of nursing in New Mexico, by the pro-life group Protest ABQ. The have alleged that nurse practitioner Vivianne Clark performed at least 200 illegal abortions at the facility.
During a press release by the pro-life group said, “New Mexico law states that only licensed physicians can perform abortions. Vivianne Clark is not a licensed physician and is therefore in violation of New Mexico’s Criminal Abortion Statute, NMSA Section 30-5-1, et. sequ. Medicaid data obtained by Protest ABQ through a public records request indicates that since 2012 New Mexico taxpayers have footed the bill for over 200 illegal abortions performed by Vivianne Clark.”
In 2013, Clark performed over 90 abortions and received Medicaid reimbursements from more than $11.000
According to the Associated Press, there is currently a state nursing board investigation in relation to the case.
The facility is denying any wrongdoing and has described the case as a “baseless attack.” A spokeswoman for the facility pointed to a law suit ruling in 2007 which states that nurse practitioner can legally prescribe chemical abortion drugs to patients. But an attorney for the pro-life group says that district court order is not legal precedent.
An executive director for the pro-life group, Bud Shaver, said, “It is a disturbing fact that New Mexicans are funding an illegal abortionist through NM Medicaid. The over 200 abortions that we have been able to document, based on the NM Medicaid data, are only the tip of the iceberg as far as the total number of abortions Vivanne Clarke has performed over the years in clear violation of New Mexico law. We are calling upon the New Mexico Nursing Board to do a thorough investigation to get to the bottom of this. Based on what we can already prove, Vivianne Clarke’s nursing license should be revoked immediately.”
Because many abortionists are retiring there are many abortion clinics that are trying to recruit nurses to perform abortions to keep their profits in the black.
