Philadelphia- A nurse at a Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia posted a "racist comment" about Black Lives Matter protesters on Facebook and was fired from her position at the facility.
Diane Amoratis wrote on Facebook “They should have bulldozed the [Black Lives Matter] protest at 24/25th district last night. “Disgraceful!!!” And for all the police officers who have to work amongst these trouble makers, you deserve all the praise in the world. Especially the officer who stood there while that fat, braided hair, piece of s--t troublemaker ranted so despicably in your face."
She went on to say that. "Blacks kill each other every day, all day long, and it's ok with them. Why no protest when Jamal kills Kalif???? Well, I AM WHITE AND PROUD TO BE WHITE!! WHITE LIVES MATTER!!!! POLICE LIVES MATTER!!! Keep your circus in your own neighborhood!!! Get a life, a honest job, and RAISE YOUR KIDS TO BE PRODUCTIVE CITIZENS!!!! I am sick and tired of all this bulls--- with the black people!!"
Her post went viral and people were angry throughout social media outlets. A petition on Change.org was set up to demand the registered nurse's termination.
The hospital where the nurse worked released a statement on Monday saying her comments were, “inappropriate and inflammatory comments." They went on to say, “hate speech of any kind is unacceptable at Jefferson and is not consistent with our values, policies and the culture of inclusiveness, dignity and respect we continue to build here.”
The head of human resources at Jefferson Hospital, Jeffrey Stevens wrote on Facebook that Amoratis was “no longer at Jefferson, " do to her "unfortunate choice.
He also advised other employees to“be mindful of our conduct and avoid egregious, hateful language and behaviors that reflect on Jefferson as uncaring.”
“Nothing could be further from the truth,” he said.
I am appalled at this story and feel compelled to elaborate. although this nurse may not have used the right words to express her feelings, I think many white people are fed up with reverse discrimination. "ALL LIVES MATTER" should never be considered a racially discriminatory statement.
This sentiment should certainly be true for ALL nurses. As medical professionals, we should treat all people equally. One race is not more important than another. Should we just treat emergencies in the ER only when they involve black people because only "black lives matter?" Perhaps Jeffrey Stevens, the chief of Jefferson University Hospital's human resource department should answer this.
This nurse only said what many white people are afraid to say. Some of what she said was a little harsh, but to terminate her because she spoke her mind, outside work is preposterous. She has a right to free speech like everyone in this country.
The Black Lives Matter group is the same group that called cops "pigs" and chanted "fry em like bacon." As far as I'm concerned this group consists of anarchists who want the police gone so they can wreak havoc and break the law.
If it offends you to hear facts such as, the majority of people who commit crimes in this country are black. Despite making up just 13% of the population, blacks committed half of homicides in the United States for nearly 30 years. DOJ statistics show that between 1980 and 2008, black people committed 52% of homicides. In 2013, black criminals committed 38% of the murders. Whites accounted for just 31 percent. 90% of black murders in 2013 were commited by black people These are FACTS folks.
If you're black and you don't like these facts, don't blame it one whites that many of your neighborhoods are full of drug dealers and crime. Do something about it. Stop blaming other races for your problems.
I was totally shocked at a video I saw recently of a young black nurse who said she felt that the man who shot the police officers in Dallas, was a martyr and should be praised for his actions and not condemned. Was she fired from her job? No.
He shot 5 police officers who were just trying to do their job. Officers with families and young children. Some were veterans who had served our country to fight for your freedom, regardless of color.
This hate from the black race needs to stop. Many white people are sick and tired of reverse discrimination. This nurse did not deserve to be fired because she wrote something on her personal social media account during her own time. If those are her feelings and it's not within company time then she should have the right to write whatever she pleases on her timeline.
The Black Lives Matter group are allowed to make comments about "frying cops like bacon." and be invited to the white house by Obama, yet a white person merely comments on her frustrations about the Black Lives Matter movement and loses her job, and probably her career because of it.
The hospital that terminated this nurse for the things she said needs to take a step back. Perhaps there should be a petition to get this nurse her job back. I will certainly start one if people are interested in signing it.
This country needs to let go of this political correctness and face facts. United we stand and divided we fall. We have much more pressing things to worry about. ISIS terrorists are killing people all over the world. We need a country that is united, regardless of race, color or creed. Stop this nonsense.
If you are black and you have a problem with police, then put in an application, get hired with them and make changes.
Whites are tired of listening to many black people playing the victim role. Martin Luther King would turn over in his grave if he saw the way some blacks act in today's society.
There seems to be something noble about saying you're proud to be black, but you should be ashamed to be white?
To the person at Jefferson University Hospital that was responsible for firing this nurse, you should be ashamed of yourself.
